I help poets and essayists develop a kind and sustainable writing practice.

If you dream of publishing a book, finishing a single piece, or just getting words on the page and you’re tired of fear and overwhelm getting in the way, I’m here to support you.

I bring a contemplative lens to my teaching and 1:1 mentoring, drawn from twenty years of meditation practice and a lifetime of creative writing.

If you study with me, you can expect to develop a consistent writing practice, make clear progress towards your goals, learn craft tools, and engage in the ongoing practice of making friends with your mind.

Step 1: Book Your Free Introductory Consultation

In this free, half-hour online session, I’ll spend some time getting to know you and your project and creating shared expectations for our work together.

We’ll explore questions like:

  • What is your project?

  • What are your goals?

  • Where are you struggling?

  • What is your timeline?

  • How do you see our work supporting your goals?

Step 2: Choose a Single Session or a Mentoring Package

Once we’ve had a chance to talk and decide that we’re a good fit, we’ll move to Step 2: booking either a single session or a mentoring package.

Every writer is different, and I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs and goals.

Some of the things I can support you with include:

  • Developing a consistent writing practice

  • Setting goals and getting the support you need to achieve them

  • Helping you discover what you want to write about

  • Working with doubt, self-criticism, and procrastination

  • Personalized readings, prompts, and other homework

  • Guided meditations

  • Revising existing essays or poems

  • Writing, revising, and/or assembling book-length creative nonfiction or poetry manuscripts

  • Supporting you with the publication process

For these sessions, I offer sliding scale “pay from the heart” pricing. Please choose the amount that best meets your circumstances and what feels right in your heart. We’ll agree on an hourly price before our first meeting.

What people say about working with me:

Rebecca is the most encouraging and accepting writing mentor I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She leads with unconditional positive regard for my work while at the same time providing the structure and experience I need to push my writing outside my comfort zone. I write more under her guidance and feel supported to write more candidly and honestly.
— Kim Nolan
I LOVED working with Rebecca. Her flexibility and deep knowledge of writing and poetry, combined with the way she quickly helped me feel comfortable, made working with her exciting and rewarding! The readings she assigned and 1:1 meetings allowed me to quickly achieve my goal of learning the fundamental mechanics of poetry. I can’t express how grateful I am for the time and expertise Rebecca has shared with me.
— Alfonso Doucette
There are few people I’ve met who’ve made the lasting impact on my life that Rebecca has. Her warmth and genuinely inviting nature allowed me, a burgeoning writer, to feel comfortable being vulnerable sharing my story, writing process, and goals. She has gone above and beyond as a writing coach with frequent check-ins and providing helpful supplemental resources. She’s responsive and flexible, altering her approach with my changing needs. I’ve never regretted a dollar spent seeking her guidance and neither will you.
— Nora Nneka, author of Swallowed Words
I’ve never imagined being so excited to revise.
— Pat Alea
I appreciate Rebecca’s ability to provide an open, encouraging atmosphere for my writing to flourish. Her affirming style encouraged me, and her feedback was supportive and gave me good ideas for improvement. I really liked her lively, sincere, kind and engaged presence. Her knowledge of writers and styles provided a satisfying resource for expanding my imagination. I highly recommend her as a facilitator.
